						Massive-amorphous to globular.  Black externally and tan internally.  Surface smooth to the eye, but microconulose under the microscope. Conules :  0.02 cm high, 0.1 cm apart. 					Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic.  Life cycle:  The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
