						Hollow cylinders:  up to 100 cm high.  Surface with deep grooves:  0.5 - 1 cm deep; and finely conulose; 0.05 - cm high and 50 - 100 cm apart.  Yellow, green, ochre, or reddish-brown, externally, tan-yellowish internally. Oscules with membrane on top pf the tube; 2 - 8 cm diameter. 					Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic.  Life cycle:  The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
