Thickly encrusting. Smooth surface is brown-yellowish with purple or brown-pinkish areas; with minute pores aggregating in shallow depressions. Transparent channels present. Circular oscules. White choanosome; soft and crumbly. No ectosomal skeleton specialization.
Occurs in subtidal mangrove roots at a depth of 0.5 m (Ref. 081714).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
