:
Weakly muscled species of small to moderate size. Anterior fin lobes absent; posterior fin lobes free and convexes; fins attach laterally on mantle muscle. Buccal connectives attach to dorsal margins of ventral arms. Arms with biserial suckers. Tentacular club bears in its proximal part a large number of mall suckers arranged in more than 10 rows; in the central part of the club are 4 rows of large suckers of equal or different size, while on the distal end are 3 or 4 rows of gradually smaller suckers; carpal knobs in a single dorsal row or absent. Light organs absent. Little is known about the biology of this group. Oceanic, meso bathypelagic species. Captured with open nets between 200 and 3 500 m. No interest to fisheries (Ref. 104052).
