Definition of Term

(English) A poorly permeable underground bed, formation, or group of formations, often saturated, that impedes groundwater movement, and does not yield water freely to a well or spring. However, an aquiclude may transmit appreciable water to or from adjacent aquifers, and where sufficiently thick, may constitute an importatnt groundwater storage unit.
