Family:  Muricidae (purpuras, murex and rock shells)
Max. size:  5.15 cm DL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 15 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Introduced in Eastern Pacific and Northeast Atlantic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  From littoral and circalittoral rocks and other hard substrata and littoral and sublittoral sediment (Ref. 1314).
