Family:  Umbraculidae ()
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 100 m
Distribution:  Circumglobal tropical, temperate seas and the Mediterranean Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Assumed maximum length from Ref. 822. Found on reefs (Ref. 337) and burrowing or under rocks (Ref. 844). Also on soft substrate (Ref. 109264). Feeds on sponges (Ref. 844). Members of the order Notaspidea are mostly simultaneous hermaphrodites (Ref. 833).
