Family:  Muricidae (purpuras, murex and rock shells)
Max. size:  12 cm SHL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 60 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from Sri Lanka to Melanesia; north to Japan and south to southern Indonesia and probably eastern Queensland.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Collected locally and marketed for food and shell trade (Ref. 349).
