comments Known from Para to Sergipe as one of the nesting grounds (Ref. 1397). Another habitat of major nesting colonies is in Trinidade (Ref. 83960, 85370). Its coastal waters are also known as foraging grounds of the Ascension green turtle (Ref. 83887, 85363). The coastal shelf hosts adults and a large number of juveniles both feeding on macroalgae. Juveniles feeding on microalgae were found to undertake ontogenic migrations (Ref. 66638). Post-pelagic juveniles and adults are known the contribute to the green turtle stock in this area (85367). These areas are being protected by a natural programme for marine turtle conservation to reduce mortality resulting from catch of artisanal fisheries (Ref. 85368). C: Refs. 83887, 83960, 85363, 66638, 85370; M: Ref. 1397; O: Ref. 1397.
