Indo-West Pacific: continental shelf waters of the Sunda Shelf up to southern China and Philippines.
Also collected by fish corrals. Inhabits estuarine waters up to 20 km inland in completely freshwater (Ref. 343). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
