Supratidal to intertidal (Ref. 97531). Occurs in sandy habitats usually flooded by high tide. Found on mangrove edges, large bays, or at islands in open sea (Ref. 104843). Feeds on minute organisms and organic debris (Ref. 111634). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
