Occurs in the lower intertidal zone (Ref. 104832). On muddy and sandy--muddy shores, below the mean tide level (Ref. 104835). Deposit feeder (Ref. 111637). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
