Indo-Pacific. Tropical and subtropical.
Inhabits low muddy areas along the edges of small streams (Ref. 104819). Also associated with sandy habitats in lagoonal beach (Ref. 104858). Feeds during low tide. Constructs mud hoods at the entrance of their burrows (Ref. 104819). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
