Southeast Pacific and Southwest Atlantic: from Sechura Bay to Strait of Magellan, to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, including Easter and Falkland Islands. Tropical and subtropical.
It is found on rocky substrates, on or beneath rocks, in crevices, tide pools and on brown algae from the intertidal area to a depth of 10 meters. It feeds on algae (Ref. 87801). Members of the order Archaeogastropoda are mostly gonochoric and broadcast spawners. Life cycle: Embryos develop into planktonic trocophore larvae and later into juvenile veligers before becoming fully grown adults (Ref. 833).
