Carapace length: 2.2 to 7.1 cm (male), 1.4 to 7 cm (female), 4.2 to 7 (ovigerous females) (Ref. 4). Prefers soft muddy substrates (Ref. 4). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
