Epibenthic (Ref. 87524). Inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms (Ref. 105214). Also found on rocky substrates in shelf waters from shallow to deeper continental slope (Ref. 105215). In general, galatheid crabs show a wide spectrum of feeding habits, from being detritivorous, vegetarian, omnivorous, to cannibalistic (Ref. 90632). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
