Commonly found on sand, mud and hard substrates in channels and less common in fjords, channels and open and exposed coasts (Ref. 87801). Mainly a detritivore or surface deposit-feeder; secondarily a predator and/or scavenger (Ref. 113340). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
