Up to 1.5 cm in height and 2 cm in diameter (Ref. 1603). Attached to hard substrata; from lower shore to depths of more than 500 m (Ref. 1603). Members of the class Ascidiacea are hermaphroditic; both cross- and self-fertilization is typical. Life cycle: Eggs develop into lecithotrophic larva before metamorphosing into benthic adults (Ref. 833).
