Northeast Atlantic and the Arctic.
Total length is 1.6 cm in Ref. 7726. Known from shallow subtidal, tolerate estuaries (Ref. 7726). Attached to hard substrata; usually in shallow water but occasionally below 200 m (Ref. 1603). Members of the class Ascidiacea are hermaphroditic; both cross- and self-fertilization is typical. Life cycle: Eggs develop into lecithotrophic larva before metamorphosing into benthic adults (Ref. 833).
