Eastern Pacific: Aleutian Islands to Baja California.
Urn-shaped, cream white with single osculum at the free end (Ref. 865). Occur in clusters of 5-10 individuals attached to rocks in the low intertidal zone (Ref. 865). Members of the class Calcarea are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into either coeloblastula or amphiblastula larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge (Ref. 833).
