Southeast Pacific: Probably endemic to Chile.
This species is found at depths of 20 to 30 m, in areas where there is a moderate amount of sediment and light (Ref. 87801). Members of the class Calcarea are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into either coeloblastula or amphiblastula larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge (Ref. 833).
