Indo-West Pacific: from India to Melanesia; north to Taiwan Province of China and south to southern Indonesia and New Caledonia.
Collected for food in various parts of the Indo-West Pacific, notably in Indonesia, Indo-China, and India (Ref. 349). On muddy littoral rocks (Ref. 349). Members of the family Muricidae are carnivorous (Ref. 108589). Members of the order Neogastropoda are mostly gonochoric and broadcast spawners. Life cycle: Embryos develop into planktonic trocophore larvae and later into juvenile veligers before becoming fully grown adults (Ref. 833).
