Southeast Pacific: Peru to Chile.
Intertidal to subtidal to a depth of 20 m. Infaunal burrower in sandy substrates (Ref. 75339). Feeds on plankton and organic detritus (Ref. 107091). Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam (Ref. 833).
