Northwest Pacific: China and Korea. Introduced in the USA (San Francisco Bay, California). Tropical to subtropical.
Widely distributed in coastal zones in China (Ref. 112868). Has ability to withstand extreme temperatures at salinities of 3-21. Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
