Southwest Atlantic and Southern Pacific.
It is found on vertical to horizontal rocky substrates that forms reef-like structures at depths of 18 ton 300 m, and exceptionally up to 771 m (Ref. 87801). Members of the order Anthoathecata are mostly colonial A-form hydroids. Life cycle: The zygote develops into planula inside the gonophore and is later released as an actinula which metamorphoses into polyp stage (Ref. 833).
