Definition of Term

exotic species
(english) An organism that exists in a free state in an area but is not native to that area. Also refers to animals from outside the country in which they are held in captive or free-ranging populations. (See also: introduced species, alien species)
espèce exotique
(french) Un organisme qui existe dans un état libre dans une région mais n'est pas un native de cette région. Se rapport aussi aux animaux de l'extérieur du pays dans qu'ils sont contenus captifs ou des populations avec des rangées libres. (See also: introduced species, alien species)
