Definition of Term

divergence
(english) Upward movement of deeper waters in open ocean ecosystems attributed to the divergent movement of surface waters, i.e., away from the area where the upwelling water reaches the surface (= oceanic upwelling zone), also: the evolutionary process of branching lineages.
