Assumed maximum total length in 3.5 cm (Ref. 2266), maximum colony diameter is 5 cm (Ref. 2268). Found on rocky substrate, on concrete, cave walls, often among oysters (Ref. 1134), dwelling in shallow rocky littoral habitats, particularly bays and harbours. Solitary (Ref. 2266). Known as benthic species (Ref. 85347). Members of the class Ascidiacea are hermaphroditic; both cross- and self-fertilization is typical. Life cycle: Eggs develop into lecithotrophic larva before metamorphosing into benthic adults (Ref. 833).
