Widely omnivorous; have broad feeding niches particularly during the autumn and spring migrations. Breed on the ground in the Arctic tundra, along the coasts of Alaska, Mackenzie and eastern Siberia. Tropical winter range in Ecuador, South America, migrates from Louisiana and South Dakota, USA during autumn and spring.
