Description of life cycle and mating behavior Breeding distribution ranges in the central Pacific islands. Copulation occurs on the nest site, where birds utter a soft guttural "GRRRRR-GRRRRR-GRRRR" from the nest cavity. Both (sexes) birds incubate. They lay only one single egg, occasionally a bird can be found incubating 2 eggs but the other one is infertile.
