Remarks Found in intertidal mudflats. Scavenger-predator (Ref. 128960). Digs burrows in supralittoral of sand beaches; more common on offshore islands. Males build towers in breeding season. Key species on sand species (Ref. 801). Members of the family Ocypodidae are typical deposit feeders (Ref. 108430).
